The Edmonton Club Celebrates a Wonderful Year
Without burying the lead, The Edmonton Club is first and foremost growing! With that grown comes many successes. A huge welcome to Amy, Jenn, Lisa, Carrie & Kelsey!
Recognition
Every year, our club nominates members for awards at the local level. Then in May, we head to the Western Canada Federation (WCF) Convention, where clubs from across the region submit their top picks—and a prestigious committee selects the Federation-wide winners.
This year, the Edmonton Club ROCKED it—not only did we qualify, we won multiple WCF awards!bbWe’ve been working hard to grow our club, represent Cosmo with pride, and volunteer in style (even in mismatched socks
). And it paid off!

Today we celebrate our President!

CRITERIA FOR PRESIDENT OF THE YEAR: This award is presented to a Club President who stands out from all the rest. This Club President is a dynamic individual, a true leader, a caring person, and one whose Club has enjoyed tremendous success during the award year. The Club President whose Club wins the Big C Award qualifies for this award. The Federation Governor shall nominate one Club President from their Federation who meets the criteria for this award.
Tammy's Achievements:
Tammy firmly believes that every Cosmo meeting and social event is effectively a “Membership event”. Club members are encouraged to invite potential new members to all functions. Tammy enthusiastically embraced the WCF Membership competition that was proposed by Lt Gov. Terry Down. At the very next club meeting, teams were formed, and the challenge began. The team spirit is evident – our teams, “the Mature Judges” and “the Lazy Lions”, really got into the competition. The Lazy Lions have even procured Lion headbands, which has been fun for the whole club.
Tammy provides team updates at every meeting and encourages club members participate in the competition. To date, the Edmonton Club has gained 5 new members this year, so it’s been a great success. Under Tammy’s leadership, the Edmonton Club has brainstormed fundraising ideas, in addition to our Casino funds that have been raised. The club typically gets the opportunity to work a casino every two years, so we need to find ways to raise non-gaming funds, in between Casinos. Committees will be struck to proceed with the best and most feasible options.
The Edmonton Club participates in regular volunteer opportunities to support the community, such as the Edmonton Food Bank, a river clean up, and the St Albert Lifestyle Expo Volunteer Fair.
Tammy is an active member of several committees, including Cosmo Day, Awards, and she was part of the International Convention Planning Committee. She also contributes a President’s Message to each Edmonton Cosmo Bulletin, and she emceed our most recent Christmas Giving Event, which is our largest annual community service event.
Here is what our club members have to say about Tammy, as Club President:
“Committed, kind and empathetic would be the words to describe an organized, resilient leader.”
“Tammy is an amazing person! Her upbeat, informative, and funny personality is such a joy to be around. During business meetings, the time flies by.”
“Tammy Allen has shown to be an exceptional leader and organizer. A Cosmo to the core she brings levity and passion to the traits all Cosmos aspire too.”
“Fun and laughter follow Tammy around! Tammy is a very warm and welcoming person and is a GREAT advocate for Cosmo and our purpose. During her time as club president, we have seen the most growth in membership in years! She is a great participant in any fun event planned, only missing for her exotic world travels, otherwise nothing would keep her from joining in on the fun. She played a key role in the planning of the most recent International Convention held in Edmonton which was a huge success and has attended many Federation and International Conventions as an ambassador for our club in past years. Tammy has also served on the Federation Board, including the first ever two-year term as Governor. She continues to be active at the Federation Level, attending monthly Zoom meetings, when available.”
“Tammy started the club off strong this year with the membership competitions, and encouraging social interaction and club spirit. She’s got a talent for holding a structured meeting, while including some fun with the productivity! Tammy takes all club members opinions and ideas into account creating a welcoming environment. She is always adding fun and meaningful notes to our newsletters. She clearly truly cares and her bright ideas, long term experience and warm personality has brought about a successful year for the Edmonton club!”
